Al-Wadih (wa-dee-a) Abu Rouk is a teenage Palestinian who lives in Gaza. This is his story. He was a student before the genocide. He continues to be a dedicated brother and son. He has returned to school in order to finish high school. Wadih is also an aspiring poet and enjoys listening to popular music. Please follow Wadih and check out his profile on Instagram: @wadeeroukgaza.

He is displaced with his 7 family members and they live in a tent shelter. They are currently living in the humanitarian camp on the beach of the Al-Mawasi area in Gaza after having to flee their home in Khuza’a, which was reduced to rubble. You can read more about the family below.

They are in dire need of donations for their tent, food, water, and other basic supplies. Once funds are collected by me, they will be wired directly to Wadih’s older brother, Tariq.

Here is more information about all of the family members in Wadih’s own words:

“My father, Ziad, he is 45 years old. He works in all fields of work. He loves helping people. He always tells me that I must work hard in my studies until I reach what I want. He is a great father because despite everything that is happening, he still tells us that everything will pass”

“As for my mother, Khwala (47), she is the reason for my success in everything. She struggles with diabetes but always strives to bring me the best. She wished that I would be an engineer, but the war came and destroyed her dream of that. My mother is the heart that always beats for our happiness. She is sad now because of what we are going through, but there is no help in her power.”

“My sister, Saja, age 23, was in her final year of University and she had to graduate after that in the last year of her specialization in agricultural engineering and she worked in all fields before the war in agricultural lands. She rented land and planted and got her crop and she was studying to become an engineer in the future but on October 7th everything ended the land, the University and everything.”

“My brother, Tariq, age 25, before October 7th, he studied at University for 4 years, and worked to achieve his dream, and every year he paid an amount of money. His specialization was management and accounting. He worked in some of all fields to provide him with expenses, and on October 7th he finished everything”

“Brother Anas, 20 years, he succeeded in his orientation stage and graduated from it and continued his studies. His friends, since the seventh of October, his dreams have been destroyed. He resorted to simple actions in the war, but everything is bad and the situation is not okay.”

“My brother, Hamza, is age 13 and in the seventh grade, he was studying and working hard to excel and take high grades in exams. From October, everything with which his dreams and friends were destroyed and everything turned into hell. He always says I love the country, I love Palestine, and he learns at school his love for Palestine and Gaza.”

“My sister, Duha, is 11 years old and is very diligent in her school and her morals are high for her teachers in school, she loves to play and loves her friends and is always superior in her studies. She loves to talk about Palestine since the seventh of October, everything has changed, and she is always wondering how the war will end, so that her dreams and wishes will return.”
